changing personal stamps?

From: sandramilfeld (studiousmom@sbcglobal.net) | Date: 2005-10-21 16:36:56 UTC
When I started letterboxing a couple of years ago, I was gung-ho and in a hurry to get going.
So I carved out a personal stamp real quick. Now I'm not satisfied with it. I know I can do
better, and I see that my stamp is too big for most logbooks. What is the etiquette for
changing your personal stamp? Isn't that like changing your signature?

I changed my personal stamp 4 times. I had a store-bought kokopelli stamp at first. I noticed someone else was using the same stamp, so I changed it. Yet again someone else started using the same stamp, etc. I finally got an image on the internet of a kokopelli, carved it with musical notes on it and that's my stamp. This hobby is about YOU, not about what someone else thinks - remember - no rules. Have fun! Change your image! Go for it!

Enjoy!

I've been thinking of changing my signature stamp
yearly. Last year it was a word stamp - liked it but
it's a bit too big. If I can't get the whole word
stamp in the logbook and it gets cut off it doesn't
make much sense. This year I have a new letterboxing
companion - my standard poodle boxing buddy. I carved
a poodle stamp and have been using it for 2005. Next
year maybe I'll carve a different poodle stamp or
maybe something that reflects what's going on in my
life in 2006.

Many people change their personal stamp. I started with a very very
simple padlock carving. A couple of months later I carved a much more
intricate one of a fancier padlock. I still use the first one as it is
a lot smaller and easier to stamp into mini boxes.

Some people use a bunch of different stamps. Such as Der Mad Stamper.
Remember....no rules. :)
